G. Adams Construction are seeking an experienced, skilled site-based carpenter to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.
Based in Tredegar and operating sites throughout NP, CF, LD and SA postcodes G. Adams Construction offers flexible, high quality building solutions to commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, leisure and residential sectors.

Since 1987 we have been producing complete quality in the construction of new buildings, the refurbishment of existing buildings, barn conversions and group repair schemes.

The ideal candidate will meet the key skills and qualities criteria and must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Key Skills/Qualities

  • Proven experience of all aspects of carpentry
  • Excellent all-round site experience
  • Self-motivated with a genuine interest in producing high quality workmanship
  • Confident in own ability with an eye for detail
  • Critical thinking capabilities for planning and problem solving
  • Good communication skills
  • NVQ/City and Guilds qualified
  • Must have a full UK Driving Licence

Responsibilities/Duties

  • 1st and 2nd fix carpentry with own tools
  • Working from drawings and specification
  • Effectively work on site as part of team

Remuneration/Benefits

  • Company van with limited private use
  • 30 days holiday
  • Salary (negotiable)

Contracts Administrator / Trainee Quantity Surveyor

The successful candidate will work alongside our Contracts Director and Contracts Administrator to tender and deliver a variety of projects including new builds, barn conversions and a range of refurbishment schemes. Based in Tredegar and operating sites throughout NP, CF, LD and SA postcodes G. Adams Construction offers flexible, high quality building solutions to commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, leisure and residential sectors. The ideal candidate will meet the key skills and qualities criteria and must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Key Skills/Qualities

  • Self-motivated with a genuine interest in value for the company
  • Good understanding of the construction industry
  • Strong communication skills
  • Confident in own ability
  • Critical thinking capabilities for planning and problem solving.
  • Must have a full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience in compiling tender packages and producing tender reports
  • Experience of project management desirable

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Working from drawings and specification to issue and manage tender packages
  • Working within a team to meet deadlines and targets
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Contract administration
  • Ordering materials, organising sub-contractors, assisting with valuations and final accounts
  • Other duties as required

Remuneration/Benefits

  • Working Hours – Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
  • 28 days holiday
  • Salary (negotiable)

Quantity Surveyor (Part Time/Self Employed)

G. Adams Construction are seeking an experienced and flexible Quantity Surveyor on a part time/self-employed basis. The successful candidate will tender and deliver a variety of projects including new builds, barn conversions and a range of refurbishment schemes. Based in Tredegar and operating sites throughout NP, CF, LD and SA postcodes G. Adams Construction offers flexible, high quality building solutions to commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, leisure and residential sectors. The ideal candidate will be a construction industry professional and will meet the key skills and qualities criteria and must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Key Skills/Qualities

  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience and relevant qualifications
  • Must have a full UK Driving Licence
  • Flexible with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a genuine interest in value for the company
  • Good understanding of the construction industry
  • Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Confident in own ability
  • Critical thinking capabilities for planning and problem solving
  • Experience in compiling tender packages and producing tender reports

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Working from drawings and specification to analyse, negotiate and prepare good value costs for tender issue
  • Ensuring accurate and timely submission of tender bids
  • Lead contract administration and manage material / subcontract packages
  • Attend site meetings
  • Maximise cashflow by measuring and issuing precise, on time valuations / final accounts
  • Accurate and clear record keeping
